Some of the most famous guitars in modern music history were not factory made, but rather rebuilt from a variety of parts. Clapton's famous "Blackie" strat was assembled from a selection of Fender parts, each chosen for the correct feel, weight, look, and of course sound. Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstrat" began as a combination of parts, including a vintage Gibson PAF humbucker and 6 screw Fender tremolo unit. Later the guitar was rebuilt using necks from Fender and later Kramer. David Gilmour's black strat was rebuilt numerous times, adding custom electronics and a Kahler tremolo unit, which were both reversed for a standard strat setup.

elRayo Guitarworks can take your favorite neck, body, and hardware, and rebuild and assemble them into the guitar you have always wanted. To the left are some example of instruments we have rebuilt, including:

  • Tony Muhammad's 70's J-bass rebuild in honor of Vince Loving
  • Jason Getzel's modern strat rebuild
  • Vintage Gibson Melody Maker with broken headstock

In each case, the repairs and rebuilding methods ensured that the instrument played it's best, and had the tone that was greater than the sum of its parts. Call it mojo, call it magic, elRayo Guitarworks can make it happen for you.
